SZA Says She ‘Was Scared’ to Speak to Beyoncé at the 2024 Grammys: ‘I Don’t Want to Bother Her’

News that she was too enamored with Beyoncé to talk to her at the 2024 Grammy Awards.The 34-year-old SZA admitted, “I was scared to go over to Beyoncé.””In my mind, I can’t talk until she wants to talk because I don’t want to disturb her. She appeared so serene and lovely,” SZA went on. “I simply think she’s amazing. She is the epitome of elegance, grace, beauty, kindness, and poise.”

The “Snooze” singer didn’t get to meet the 32-time Grammy winner, 42, but she did get to meet JAY-Z, 54, the husband of the Houston native and the recipient of the 2024 Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.SZA said, “JAY-Z did speak to me.” “I felt so appreciative. It’s unbelievable that I’m actually seeing those people in real life because they are honestly my favorite people.””To me, Jay-Z holds immense value. She declared, “The Blueprint rapper is my all-time favorite. I’m a JAY-Z stan so bad.”

 

At the 66th annual Grammy Awards, the singer not only met one of her favorite rappers but also took home three awards. She was awarded best R&B song for “Snooze,” best pop duo/group performance with Phoebe Bridgers for “Ghosts in the Machine,” and best urban contemporary album for SOS.With six more nominations, SZA became the artist with the most nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards.SZA sobbed as she accepted the award for best R&B song and said to the crowd, “I just… I’m sorry, I’m just really overwhelmed.”She went on, “You don’t really understand.” “I feel so fake, and I can’t believe this is happening, even though I’ve come so far.”

She performed her Grammy-nominated hits “Snooze” and “Kill Bill” during the awards show. She performed “Snooze” to start the show before jumping right into “Kill Bill.”There are currently 24 Grammy nominations for SZA. She was the winner of the 2022 Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award with Doja Cat for their song “Kiss Me More.”
