Nyabihu won all the trophies at the Fair play Football Tournament

The final matches of the ‘Fair play Football Tournament’, organized by the Rwanda Youth Club for Peace, took place at the Bigogwe football field, bringing together the districts of Rubavu, Musanze, Nyabihu, and Rutsiro.

At 11:00 on June 30, 2024, the final match between Gs Rubavu I and Gs st Raphael girl’s teams was played.  Gs St Raphael Rambura winning 1:0. The game began with both sides showing extraordinary enthusiasm, particularly from the Gs St Raphael Rambura team, which significantly outperformed GS Rubavu I from Rubavu District.

In the first minutes of the first half, Gs St Raphael Rambura scored, taking an early lead. The first half ended with the Gs St Raphael team in the lead.

Following their victory, team captain Uwayisaba Olive told Us  that they were pleased with their success and the guidance provided by their management before the match. She stated, “We were well-prepared and received valuable advice, which helped us to maintain composure and secure the girls’ cup.”

The game between GS MUHATO and GS REGA CATHOLIC began at 1:05 PM. It started energetically from both sides. In the 28th minute, Iradukunda Thierry from Rega Catholic scored the opening goal, maintaining the lead until halftime.

In the 38th minute of the second half, a player from GS Muhato equalized.

The Director of the GS Rubavu I , in a speech, she thanked all the children who participated in the final game for their sportsmanship throughout the Fair play Tournament.

Ladislas Yassin Nkundabanyanga, Director of Rwanda Youth Club for Peace, speaking to Us , expressed satisfaction with their goal to promote peace among young boys and girls. He said, “Our aim was to encourage youth from secondary schools in the Western Province and part of the Northern Province to keep peace and Unit.”

He continued, “We’ve seen a positive change in how children understand their role in fostering harmony. Previously, they might have played aggressively, but now they understand that failure is a part of the game and motivates them to work harder rather than fight.”

The Fair play Football Tournament, involving districts like Rubavu, Nyabihu, Rutsiro, and Musanze, awarded prizes to four out of 102 clubs. The boys’ team from Gs Rega Catholic claimed the trophy, uniforms, medals, balls, and a 100,000 RWF prize. The second-place boys’ team, Gs Muhato from Rubavu district, received 80,000 RWF, balls, and medals.

Despite not winning, the children expressed their readiness to prepare for future games, emphasizing that their focus is on improvement rather than competition.
