According to witnesses, a bus accident in Rusiga Sector, Rulindo District, killed at least 14 persons.
The crash was said to have occurred close to Ku Kirenge cya Ruganzu.
Although the precise number of fatalities and injuries was still being determined, Rwanda National Police Spokesperson ACP Boniface Rutikanga informed The New Times that some people had died and others had suffered significant injuries.
51 people were on board the bus when it went off the road and fell roughly 800 meters down a steep hill while it was heading from Kigali to Musanze.
In addition to offering support to the injured, Rutikanga said the RNP sent their condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
Police said they are still investigating the accident’s cause and the precise number of people killed.
