Kirehe District, February 14, 2025, In a remarkable effort to support vulnerable children, Youth Impact Hub successfully implemented the second edition of the “Sangira N’Umwana Ku Ishuri” initiative at GS Gatore, Kirehe District. This initiative aims to provide financial support for school feeding fees, ensuring children from low-income families remain in school and receive proper nutrition.
Supporting Education Through Community Action
During the event, 37 students benefited from school feeding sponsorship, easing the financial burden on their families. Additionally, the initiative provided essential school materials, including 9 notebooks, 10 pens, 2 school bags, and 1 school uniform.
“This initiative is about more than just school fees. It’s about ensuring these children have the tools they need to succeed,” said a representative from Youth Impact Hub.
Challenges and Realities on the Ground
While the program successfully provided support, discussions with students revealed deep-rooted challenges affecting their education.
Nyirandikubwimana Clementine, a Primary 6 student, shared that she often lacked basic school supplies, forcing her to borrow from friends. Thanks to the initiative, she now has the materials she needs and is determined to improve her grades.
Nyiranshimiyimana Odette, a Primary 5 student, faces a difficult home situation with an unstable family environment. She expressed her struggles in accessing school materials, a problem that Youth Impact Hub is working to address through continued support.
Looking Forward: Sustaining the Impact
Youth Impact Hub is calling for more stakeholders to join in supporting vulnerable students. Future plans include: Strengthening collaborations with government agencies and NGOs, Mobilizing more resources for sustainable assistance, Advocating for policy changes to support vulnerable learners, Establishing a stock of school supplies for emergency distribution, and Providing mentorship and home visits to assess student needs.
A Call to Action
The success of “Sangira N’Umwana Ku Ishuri” is a testament to the power of collective action. Youth Impact Hub urges more individuals, organizations, and government agencies to contribute to this vital cause, ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial hardship.
